Common questions
- Why not just send a password by email?
- Because it stays there. Inboxes get archived, backed up, synced to phones and forwarded on. A one-time link removes the secret from the conversation as soon as it’s been read.
- Can you read what I send?
- No. Secrets are encrypted with a key derived from the link itself, and that key is never stored. Without the link, there is nothing in our database to read — including for us.
- What if nobody opens it?
- It’s destroyed when it expires, whether it was read or not. You choose the lifetime — anything from an hour to 30 days.
- What if I send it to the wrong person?
- Revoke it from your dashboard. As long as it hasn’t been opened yet, the secret is destroyed immediately.
- How do I know it arrived?
- Your dashboard lists every link you’ve sent and the exact time it was opened. We’ll also email you the moment it happens.
